STERLING TRD is the standard in BLUES, REDS, BLACKS and now FAWNS... you

Remember, I started the TRD breed off in America in April 1994...  prior to that
the breed was never been in America. The very first breeding was in May 1995.
That litter was the actual FIRST "bred by and born in America litter".. The very
first litter "born" in America was actually bred in Thailand by a very famous Thai
RED stud called RADAR and the BLUE dam was called BENT. She was imported in
March 25th to San Francisco, CA and her very first litter was whelped on May 19th
1994 in San Francisco, CA.

Who do you think gave the breed it name...."TRD"...Yup!  It was my idea that I gave
to this breed on March 15th 1994...while I was sitting having a ice tea with the late
great BLUE TRD breeder Somsit Leelhausuwan.. It was Somsit who told me all the
FACTS about the TRD...

And these are the real FACTS...

MSN, Gmail, SKYPE, or Yahoo messengers are the very best way to buy or sell a
puppy online. You can actually see what you are getting this way..

BREEDING, WHELPING, SELLING, SHIPPING this is how it works...

I have received 1000's of emails over the past 12 years asking how one can acquire a TRD puppy...how the actual breeding process works.. and also when can I ship them their new TRD puppy..

Okay, this is how it all works:

BREEDING :
The TRD breed is not like other western breeds.... being a primitive breed, the females normally come into "heat" once a year. A female pup will begin her 1st "heat" cycle at about 8-9 months of age. Then 8-12 months later she will come back into her 2nd "heat" and normally the same each year there after. Lets say a pup was born September 1st 2003.  Her first "heat" cycle will take place about May 1st 2004. Then, I wait until her next "heat" cycle which could be up to at east a year later. May 1st 2005...I find a suitable male and on the 11th, 13th and 15th day after I see the first traces of blood, I just let the male do what comes natural. Once she has been bred at least 2-3 times, I then wait another 63 days for her to then show me the "puppies"...

WHELPING :
These TRD are so natural that very little help is needed with the "whelping" (birthing) process. The mother will take as long as she wants, depending on how many pups in her litter. Normally 3-5 hours. Once all the pups are born she will clean them and start nursing them right away. All pups of all breeds are born with eye closed... they do not open their eyes for at least 10-12 days and their ears will open 14-17 days. They crawl around developing their muscles until about 3 weeks they start standing on wobbly legs learning how to walk.. They also become solid food hounds at about this same time. By the 4-5th week they are running around pooping and peeing all over and now it is now up to you to start the cleaning up after them as the mama will stop doing that for you.. She is normally fed up with them but will still let them suck as long as they can. Now, they are ready to be "weaned" from the mother's milk and start on a solid food. For the next 3-4 weeks they will grow very quickly and will be ready to leave the "nest" and go to a new home. This when normally the new owners will want to come to any said breeder to buy and take their new puppy home.

SELLING :
In most cases, a broker (a middleman) is required, he must care for and house any said TRD pup during these very important "bonding" period.. These pups must trained to "bond" with everyone and just only one person.. I train my pups to be friendly and very re-bondable to you...

The breeder or broker must then keep the pups for another 8 weeks until they are 6 weeks of age... The USDA has set certain rules about shipping ny animal into the USA. The rule on the rabies vaccine is very simple. The rabies shot must be given to any puppy at the age of 3 month (12 weeks) and the vaccine must be "in" that said pup for another 30 days...This is a USDA rule... not mine.. So, thus a pup must be 16 weeks of age before anyone can ship it to you, the new owners in America or any other country in the world. The selling price is up to the breeder and the buyer is responsibe for the shipping costs, cage cost and any vet costs.

SHIPPING :
So, that May 1st breeding of a BLUE/or RED/or BLACK/or FAWN female who helped er litter (gave birth) on about July 2nd (63 days is normal) and then hey can be sold at about 8 weeks to 16 weeks later on Sept. 2nd to Nov.2nd. They must get a rabies vaccine shot at 12 weeks (3 months) and then on the 16th week they can then be shipping to their new owners.

I ship all my pups to America via Thai Air Cargo (TAC) to LAX. (LAX is Los Angeles, CA  USA)

I can use other airlines, but a Thai broker must be hired to handle the shipping on any other non-Thai airlines. That's the rules and one must follow the rule here in Thailand to get the job down.

So, figure from the time of mating to the time of shipping is SIX MONTHS...

House of Sakorn-Sterling TRD
Proudly had the very first litter of Thai Ridgeback puppies on May 19th 1994 in San Francisco, CA. USA.  Being the first real hobby breeder in North America, I carefully incorporated three bloodlines to produce Thai Ridgeback Dogs of top quality with no deviation from the standard. I have always been a hobby breeder over 40 years.

Here are some of the definitions of the different kinds of dog people out there. Beware of them and also of those people who love to slander the leaders in any breed new or old.

Here are the Dog Owner's Guide's definitions to help you decide who is who :

[1] The Hobby breeder :
This is the what most dog show and self-respecting people are. A breed fancier who usually has only one breed but may have two; follows a breeding plan in efforts to preserve and protect the breed; produces from none to five litters per year; breeds only when a litter will enhance the breed and the breeding program; raises the puppies with plenty of environmental and human contact; has a contract that protects breeder, dog, and buyer; runs a small, clean kennel; screens breeding stock to eliminate hereditary defects from the breed; works with a breed club or kennel club to promote and protect the breed; and cares that each and every puppy is placed in the best home possible.

[2] The Commercial breeder :
One who usually has several breeds of dogs with profit as the primary motive for existence. The dogs may be healthy or not and the kennel may be clean or not. The dogs are probably not screened for genetic diseases, and the breeding stock is probably not selected for resemblance to the breed standard or for good temperament. Most commercial breeders sell their puppies to pet stores or to brokers who sell to pet stores.

[3] The Puppy Broker :
One who buys puppies from commercial kennels and sells to retail outlets. Brokers ship puppies by the crate-load on airlines or by truckload throughout the country. Brokers must be licensed by USDA and must abide by the shipping regulations in the Animal Welfare Act.

[4] The Buncher :
These people make me sick because they are the ones who collects dogs of unknown origin for sale to laboratories or other bunchers or brokers. Bunchers are considered lower on the evolutionary scale than puppy mill operators, for there is much suspicion that they buy stolen pets, collect pets advertised as "Free to a good home", and adopt unwanted pets from animal shelters for research at veterinary colleges or industrial research laboratories.

[5] The Backyard Breeder :
These are the real idiots in any breed...A dog owner whose pet either gets bred by accident or who breeds on purpose for a variety of reasons. This breeder is usually ignorant of the breed standard, genetics, behavior, and good health practices. A backyard breeder can very easily become a commercial breeder or a puppy mill.

[6] The Puppy Mill :
This a poor excuse of a breeder who produces puppies hand over fist with no breeding program, little attention to puppy placement, and poor health and socialization practices. A puppy mill may or may not be dirty but it is usually overcrowded and the dogs may be neglected or abused because the breeder can't properly handle as many dogs as he has. Puppy mill operators often denigrate hobby breeders and their dogs in attempts to make a sale.

BUYERS BEWARE OF ALL THE NEW SO-CALLED TRD BREEDERS TODAY...IF THEY ARE NOT A ATRA BREEDER...BE VERY CAREFUL... MANY CLAIM THEY HAVE PAPERS...BUT THEY DO NOT...
